First Steps Papamoa

First Steps Papamoa is a beautiful purpose built childcare centre that promotes education, adventure and friendship. We provide flexible morning, afternoon and full day sessions to meet the needs of your family.

Our qualified and experienced team of teachers are positive, caring, professional and enthusiastic . We provide a childcare environment that promotes children’s learning and development.

First Steps Papamoa has three inviting age and development specific rooms. These are the Hikurangi, Mangatawa and Kopukairoa rooms. We aim to provide warm, homely environments that support children to develop a strong sense of belonging where they know they will be nurtured and well cared for. 

First Steps Papamoa’s rooms

The Hikurangi Room is our infant and toddler room where your baby will be able to develop holistically under guidance of the Pickler Philosophy.

The Mangatawa Room is our toddler and early pre-school room where there is a great deal of focus on developing greater independence, confidence, communication and social skills.

The Kopukairoa Room is our pre-school room where our older children have the opportunity to engage in projects. This leads to investigations that prompt problem solving, teamwork and complex thinking.

All three rooms incorporate BestStart’s Be School Ready initiative into their programmes. As part of Be School Ready, we support transition to our local schools; Golden Sands, Papamoa Primary and Te Akau Ki Papamoa. We also have some children who transition to school further afield to; Arataki Primary, Tahati Coast and Omanu Primary.

At First Steps Papamoa we offer Playball sessions on Tuesday afternoons taken by two coaches who come in with a variety of sports equipment. On Fridays we take a group of children to swimming lessons at Bartletts Swims school in Papamoa. We also have the Library bus visit us fortnightly
