Community Kindy Te Rapa

At Community Kindy Te Rapa we have a vision of providing high quality early childhood education that is driven by the strengths and interests, at the pace of nga tamariki.

Our kaiako aspire to work alongside parents and whanau, bringing family values and aspirations into our programme to empower and support children’s learning in meaningful ways. Teaching and learning at Community Kindy Te Rapa is guided by Te Whaariki, the Early Childhood Education curriculum, which provides the foundation of experiences and knowledge to prepare them for school, future learning and life.

At Community Kindy Te Rapa the children learn through everyday play. Through our programme the teachers promote dispositions such as being curious, independent, taking responsibility and asking questions to extend children’s thinking. Children are encouraged to learn alongside each other, and there is a focus on promoting social skills and being an active member of our centre whanau.

Our learning environment is set up across three spacious rooms into defined areas of play, leading on to a wonderful large outside environment which encompasses a covered deck area for all weather.

Our centre offers both sessional and full day programmes for children from 2-6 years of age. We have a team of passionate, qualified teachers who know and understand about child development and how to maximize children’s learning potential.

We work in partnership with families/whanau and our local community as we recognise and value parent’s ideas and encourage them to participate in the centre environment.

Be School Ready initiative is woven into everyday centre life through our vision, values and guiding principles such as commitment, kindness, trust, respect, acknowledgement and aroha.
