BestStart Tawa (formerly Early Years Redwood Avenue), where children’s unique learning pathways are designed by their families with their teachers. Located on Main Road, Tawa, the centre is close to the motorway and a 2-minute walk to the Redwood railway station.

Our Centre Vision - We draw upon the expertise of whanau to share and design the unique learning pathway that is important for their child.

Be School Ready - BestStart’s Be School Ready initiative starts when your child starts at BestStart Tawa. Children develop independence, resilience, resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills alone and collaboratively.  Children also learn from each other through tuakana-teina relationships. School visits allow your child help to improve your child’s confidence in graduating to school.

Infants - Calm, patient care moments make our environment a safe and secure place for babies. The environment is nurturing, fun, challenging and designed to enrich your child’s learning. Care and education moments happen as we work alongside your child, encouraging individual and social learning. Your baby chooses where to explore and discover whilst having fun and learning alongside others We value communication between whānau and teachers. This ensures you can contribute to your child’s learning and share priorities and goals for them. We meet your child’s needs based on this information, encouraging a smooth transition between home and the centre each day. We have two peaceful, restful bedroom environments, provide sheets and a special quilt for your child to use exclusively.

Toddlers - Our children are approximately 2-3.5.  Routines are flexible and fit around your child’s needs, giving opportunity to evolve routines as your child’s routine develops. Our teaching adjusts to match individual needs and whānau goals. We use positive guidance to support your child to explore their resilience and understanding of emotions. We have a focus on building strong relationships between children and teachers.

Preschoolers - We believe that children are competent, confident learners able to take on new skills and learning. Our priority is for children to leave prepared for school including communication, independence, social skills and a love of learning. We work alongside your child and their interests, exploring, communicating ideas, and ensuring your child knows they belong. Learning through play enables your child to develop curiosity about things and develop creativity. We ensure your child is confident to fly and be whoever they wish to be.
