BestStart Regent Kindy

Welcome to BestStart Regent Kindy, formerly TopKids Regent, a boutique centre in the heart of Whangarei composed of diverse, multicultural children, families and staff. We offer a home like setting where children and families play a vital role in the everyday life of the centre along with their teachers and the wider community.

Our caring, well-experienced staff will be happy to welcome you to our BestStart whanau. We provide  morning and afternoon sessions as well as school day and full day attendance to cater a wider variety of needs.

Our Centre Philosophy:

We believe that the child is the heart of the matter. Our philosophy is focused on four integral beliefs and values that are important to each members of our learning community:

AROHA, WHANAUNGATANGA, RANGATIRATANGA and WHAKAMANA

We believe in nurturing our children with love, kindness, respect and equip them with social competencies and dispositions of learning to successfully participate in different settings and be leaders and innovators.

Children are encouraged to develop self-discipline, independence, and leadership skills through our child-centred programme.

The child’s cultural identity, learning styles and languages will be integral to our programme to provide relevant, responsive and supportive learning opportunities to our children and their whanau aspirations.

We promote sustainability practices so at BestStart Regent Kindy we: 

•  Use hand towels for hand-drying instead of disposable paper towels 
• Encourage healthy, plastic free lunchboxes and use wet bags instead of  single use plastic bags 
• Recycle our paper waste and exchange it for trees as part of Paper for Trees programme of our local council
• Cultivate our own vegetable garden and worm farm

Our whanau and community resources are active partners in our children’s care and education. Regular excursions and participation to community events are part of our programme.
