BestStart Porchester Road

BestStart Porchester Road is a purpose-built childcare centre that hides a secret. We may look small from the road but come on in and see our six attractive, well-resourced rooms and large split- level playground for the over two year olds. The infants have a well-designed and resourced play area just for them. Having six rooms means that our group sizes and ratios are small, and this allows to follow children’s individual rhythms and personalised learning opportunities.

With a range of times, including full day and half day options for children from 3 months to 6 years of age, we are sure that you will find an option that will suit your needs.  We offer 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds. We also provide quality and nutritious meals for the children.

Kakano – Our infants room is a calm and relaxing place where children enjoy a strong attachment and bonding with their primary care giver.  Our teachers take pride in providing an environment for our infants where each child is special, and our infants get the space to grow and develop at their own pace.

Koru and Puawai – Our two toddler rooms, one for our younger toddlers between the age of 2-3 and an older toddler room from 2.5-3.5 years of age. There is an 8 week transition between the infant and younger toddler room, just so that our children can form strong relationships with their new teachers before they start full time in a toddler room. Our children continue to enjoy the strong bond with their primary care giver in both our toddlers room. We have natural and open-ended resources for our toddlers to explore, experiment with to develop the concept of making decisions for themselves. Children enjoy the free flow between the two rooms and inside and outdoors.

Rimu, Kauri and Pohutukawa – Our young children’s rooms are full of joy, excitement and laughter. Our children enjoy the environment where all the teachers fully trust them, their learning and their play. Our children feel proud of their learning as they lead their learning journey. Teachers make sure that they are setting up the environment so that children develop the dispositions of self-confidence, self-belief and self-motivation. Our children are very confident in themselves and have great self-esteem when they leave us to join the primary school as they have always been acknowledged as children full of knowledge, curiosity and creativity. Children gain all these aspects through their curious nature and through the discoveries that they make in their environment that is beautiful, inviting, stimulating and challenging.
