BestStart New Lynn, formerly First Steps New Lynn, is located in the heart of New Lynn, - close to transport, Lynn Mall, the local medical centre and the Asian supermarket. We care for children from 6 weeks to five year's old.

Join us at our Stay and Play Sessions every Monday and Wednesday from 10am - 11am in January.

Our childcare philosophy 

We promote a calm and relaxed environment, where children can move between our indoor and outdoor spaces.  We have a dedicated, friendly team of teachers from different cultures, who are passionate about providing the best care for your baby or toddler or preschooler.  We are able to help support our children for whom English is a second language, and build strong and trusting relationships with all of our families.  We really value the importance of these relationships and work closely with our families to provide the best learning environments we can.

Our outdoor environment gives our children the opportunity to explore nature at its best.Our team all agree that our big outdoor spaces are the best part of our centre – we have a wide variety of learning experiences provided in each outdoor space – including sandpits, climbing equipment and our newly designed mud kitchen in our Preschool.

Session times available: 4 Hour Sessions (8–12 or 1–5), 6.5 hour sessions between 8.30 – 3.30 and full day sessions between 7am and 6pm. 

We can be flexible with these session times!

As a big part of our son’s emotional, social and academic developments, we made the right decision to enrol him at First Step New Lynn. He was a shy boy and through the teachers nurturing and encouragement, he was able to come out of his shell and developed his social skills in a safe daycare environment. He was able to grasp the concept of taking turns and sharing. The teachers built a good foundation of him being independent and able to stand up for himself. They supported his interests. The teachers were able to capture all of those milestones through their monthly write up / story about his development and activity. The daycare supported multi-cultures in their functions and events and encouraged family to learn about other culture’s traditions and values promoting belonging. The teachers were all courteous and kind. The high level of dedication, focus and care were beyond exceptional. We have now moved overseas but our son still remembers a lot of fond memories while he was at daycare. He can vividly recall some of those memories and he tells me all about it as if it only happened yesterday. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to the amazing team of First Step New Lynn.

You are like family, we spend a lot of time talking fondly about you, like favourite cousins who live far away. Zaynab is doing well at school, her first “learning conference” is tonight, and I have already heard teachers saying she is head and shoulders above the rest. That is an achievement that belongs to you completely.

I thought I would spend some time with my son and see how he interacts with the children and his teachers. It was exactly how I imagined. He sang and danced and the kids played inside and out and were happy to just do their own thing. The ladies were friendly and made me feel very welcome. They made me feel comfortable that my son is being well looked after.

My daughter is extremely happy there, loves the teachers, the other kids and everything that she gets to do there everyday. I don’t feel guilty about leaving her at the daycare because I know she is in good and capable hands and enjoying every minute of the day.
