BestStart Macaulay Street (formerly known as Donald Duck Preschool and Nursery) is located in the heart of Addington. We are licenced for fifty children aged 2 – 5 years and ten children under two, and offer full-time, part-time and morning and afternoon sessions. We have also introduced new 6 hour sessions for your convenience.

20 hours for 2 year olds & 30hrs for 3-5 year olds

We are a strong multi-cultural centre that supports and celebrates the diversity of our families and teaching staff. Our Philosophy reflects the shared beliefs, values, visions, practices and identity of the BestStart Macaulay Street community. Our programme provides children with long periods of uninterrupted time to follow their interests, share ideas and develop friendships. Teachers support and scaffold children’s learning and independence, encouraging Tuakana/Teina relationships where we see children as learners as well as leaders.

Our spacious preschool outdoor area provides ample space for running, co-operative games and many other physical challenges as well as providing opportunities for children to discover and explore.

The wellbeing of infants and toddlers is actively promoted with responsive and consistent care giving supporting children’s needs for strong and secure attachments. Teachers provide flexible routines that are responsive to the individual needs of the child and the preferences of parents.

My children have been coming for the past 8 years and its been a pleasure to watch them learn and grow with the support of all the teachers. Our youngest will be off to school in about 6 months time and we are all going to miss everyone, we have built amazing relationships with the staff over the years and it wont be the same not popping in every day.
